Schönberg had planned 140 days for his summer sojourn in the Salzkammergut. His pupil Joseph Travniček informed Alban Berg by telephone on 8 July that he had been assigned to locate Eugenie Schwarzwald, who could “track down” another place for Schönberg to stay in the Salzkammergut. For his part, Anton Webern suggested that Schönberg’s pupils should fan out in various Salzkammergut localities to find suitable lodgings. According to Felix Greissle, it was Heinrich Schönberg’s father-in-law Max Ott who ended up taking care of the situation; the family was able to stay in Salzburg for a while before going on to Traunkirchen.
